
SAGINAW (WWJ) - Two people are dead and over dozen were injured after they were struck by vehicles and gunfire when fights broke out at a massive party in Saginaw early Saturday morning police said.
Michigan State Police and the Saginaw Police Department, along with multiple other agencies, responded to the scene at 4th Street and Johnson around midnight on June 24 after receiving reports of shots fired at over 300-plus partygoers.
Both roads were blocked off as police investigated.
According to state police, 15 total people were injured in the incident -- three victims were hit by cars while 12 others were shot.
Two other people died at the scene. MSP said the deceased were identified as a 19-year-old male and a 41-year-old female.
According to their preliminary investigation, the chaos began when a fight broke out at the party -- it then quickly descended into violence. Multiple shooters were involved, police added, and five different calibers of bullets recovered at the scene.
At this time, no arrests have been made.
Troopers said there is no threat to the public at this time and detectives with the Saginaw Crime Unit are continuing to investigate the case.
MSP's aviation unit and Bridgeport Forensic Lab assisted at the scene.
