DETROIT (WWJ) -- A pair of Detroit men are facing murder charges for multiple fatal shootings in separate incidents earlier this month.
The office of Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy says 22-year-old Gerrod Moses Lark has been charged in connection with the fatal shootings of 31-year-old Michael Edwards of Southfield and 28-year-old Devon Cartwright of Detroit, as well as the non-fatal shooting of a 26-year-old Detroit man.
It all unfolded around 3 a.m. on July 16, when Detroit police officers were called to a home in the 15000 block of Washburn Street, near Wyoming and Fenkell on the city's west side. When officers arrived, they found one of the men dead outside the house and the other two victims inside.
The 26-year-old victim was taken to a hospital, where he was treated for injuries.
Authorities allege Lark entered the residence and fired a handgun multiple times, fatally wounding Edwards and Cartwright, and injuring the other man, before fleeing the scene. After an investigation, Detroit police officers arrested Lark on July 21.
Lark was arraigned Saturday in 36th District Court on two counts of first-degree murder and six counts of felony firearm. He is due back in court on Aug. 3.
In a separate case, Worthy's office says 32-year-old Bryce Ricardo-Marcell Jester of Detroit has been charged with the fatal shooting of 56-year-old Carlton Grenlee, also of Detroit.
Jester and Grenlee had apparently gotten into a verbal altercation around 5:30 p.m. on July 22 in the 19610 block of Revere Street, near Outer Drive and Ryan Road, on the city's east side, when things turned violent.
Jester allegedly fired a handgun at Grenlee and when officers arrived, he was found on the front porch with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Jester was arrested the next day following an investigation by the Detroit Police Department. He was arraigned on Sunday, facing one count of premeditated first-degree murder, one count of assault with intent to murder and two counts of felony firearm. He is due back in court on Aug. 4
