(WWJ) The Michigan State Police Third District is investigating two fatal crashes over the weekend involving apparent medical emergencies.
The first crash happened at around 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, along I-96 near Riley Center Rd. in St. Clair County's Riley Twp.
Troopers with the MSP Lapper Post said a 69-year-old driver from Grand Blanc suffered an apparent medical emergency, left the roadway and struck a culvert in the median.
The man was taken to a local hospital where he died of his injuries. No other other vehicles were involved in the crash, police said, and no on else was hurt.
In a separate incident on Sunday, a 71-year-old Romeo man was killed.
Troopers with the MSP TriCity Post said the driver was southbound on I-75 near Beaver Rd. in Bay County's Kawkawlin Twp. when he suffered an apparent medical emergency at around 2:30 p.m.
Police said the man lost control of his 2007 F-150 and hit a 2014 Ford F-250 as he was passing the other pickup.
The F-150 then went off the roadway, police said, eventually crashing into a tree. The driver of the F-150 was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The F-250 driver, a 48-year-old Fowlerville man, was not injured.
The names of the men killed in these crashes were not immediately released.
