(WWJ) Two Southgate police officers are in stable condition and expected to be OK after they were shot while on the job, Thursday afternoon.
Southgate Police said the shooting happened at the Village on the Park apartments off Northline Road near I-75.
Investigators said the officers were shot through a door, following an argument with the suspect, identified by Southgate Director of Public Safety Joe Marsh as 20-year-old Jeremiah Kemp.
Kemp was taken into custody Thursday evening after residents were told to shelter in place.
Police said Kemp was found in a nearby apartment. He had jumped from a second floor apartment to escape following the shooting.

Another suspect was taken into custody shortly after the shooting.
Police said Kemp was seen waving a gun before the shooting, and investigators were still searching for the weapon as of Thursday night.
A Code Red alert sent to citizens Thursday afternoon said there was one suspect still at large.

Police from several departments helped in the search for the suspects, as the wounded officers were rushed to a hospital.
Marsh said the officers were said to be doing well, and were "in good sprits." "And I'm sure they're gonna like to hear that this shooter is in custody," he said,
Charges are pending against the alleged gunman.
