SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. (WWJ) - Police in the Upper Peninsula say they've found a pair of suspects accused of dropped a puppy over the Spruce Street Bridge in Sault Ste. Marie Wednesday evening.
The Sault Ste. Marie Police Department said in an update on social media that the two suspects caught on surveillance video with the puppy were located on Thursday (Nov. 17).
"Thank you for your assistance with this case," the department said. "We have located the subjects in this video. Your help is vital in solving crime and keeping our community safe."
On footage released by police, the pair can be seen walking along the road before the young dog come into frame. One of the suspects appears to pick up the animal and walks across the street where the dog is then hoisted over the guard rail on the side of the bridge.
The suspect then apparently lets go of the puppy before running back across the street.

Officers confirmed they were able to rescue the black and tan dog, which was taken to the Chippewa County Animal Shelter.
Detective Kristin Autore told 9&10 News that one adult will be charged with animal neglect and the second suspect, a minor, will be sent to probate court for charges.
"It is inexcusable. There are resources available. They could have dropped it off at the shelter. They could have found someone to take it, they could have brought it to our department and we could have taken it to the shelter," she said " There were other solutions."
