SUPERIOR TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WWJ) -- Two teenagers are dead and a third is hospitalized with serious injuries after a rollover crash in Washtenaw County Monday afternoon.
The Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office says three teens were in an SUV that was speeding along Superior Road -- a couple miles northwest of Eastern Michigan University's campus -- around 1:30 p.m. Monday when the driver lost control of the vehicle crossing railroad tracks.
Authorities say the vehicle rolled several times, killing two of the teens at the scene. A third person inside the car was taken to a hospital in serious condition.
The teens were reportedly involved in a hit-and-run crash with another vehicle a few minutes before the rollover, according to MLive.
Police have not released the names or ages of anyone involved and it was unclear if anyone else was injured in the hit-and-run.
Authorities were still investigating the crash and Superior Road remained closed late Monday afternoon, with drivers being told to avoid the area.
