WAYNE COUNTY (WWJ) - A trio of suspected car thieves were taken into custody on Thursday morning following a police pursuit out of Oakland County -- and went all the way into northern Wayne County,

Warren Police Commissioner Willian Dwyer told WWJ's Mike Campbell that the incident began in Farmington Hills after a vehicle was reported stolen with three people inside in the early morning hours on June 15.

"[The suspects] made it to Stevenson and Hayes in Warren," Campbell explained. "That's where Warren PD picked them up."

Dwyer called the pursuit that followed a "moderate chase" with no high speeds involved. The suspects lead the chase across multiple Oakland County and Wayne Communities, finally making it all the way into Harper Woods before they bailed out of the vehicle on Ross and Kelly.

"Police found inside that car, apparently a gun with a large magazine loaded, a weapon with the bullets loaded in the magazine," Campbell said. "Sounds like they were separate. Still waiting on details on some of this."

Warren police were able to track down the suspects and eventually arrested them. They are in custody and being processed -- their identities have not been released.

No other information was made available. The incident remains under investigation at this time.
