WESTLAND (WWJ) -- Nearly 40 residents of a Westland apartment complex have to find new homes after a fire that started Wednesday evening.
WWJ's Charlie Langton reports that the fire broke out at the Westwood Village Apartments on Westwood Circle near Joy and Hix roads, just east of I-275, around 11:30 p.m. last night.
Three connected buildings were damaged in the blaze, which continued into the early hours of Thursday.
Witnesses on scene say there were 36 total units destroyed, most with single residents. No injuries were reported.
Firefighters from Westland, Garden City, Inkster, Wayne, and Dearborn Heights are all on the scene, according to Westland Fire Marshal, Kelly Eggers.
Investigators are continuing to look into the cause of the fire.
