(WWJ) — Two of the three people arrested in connection with the triple shooting and child abduction in Washtenaw County on New Year’s Day have been arraigned.

Shuvonne Vinson and Gregory Callahan were arraigned Friday on charges of open murder, kidnapping, attempted murder, home invasion and other charges. Meanwhile, the third suspect, Keith Finley, refused to be arraigned. His arraignment was rescheduled for Saturday.

The charges stem from an incident that unfolded around 8:30 p.m. on Jan. 1 at a home on Nollar Bend Road in Northfield Township, north of Ann Arbor.

Responding officers found 48-year-old Jennifer Lyn Bernhard and her 74-year-old father Stevie Ray Smith, shot to death. Bernhard’s husband, 52-year-old Jeffrey Barnhard, was also shot. He was taken to the hospital and was last listed in stable but critical condition.

A GoFundMe page organized by Brighton Assembly of God says the Bernhards’s daughter and foster child were abducted after the shooting, but the girls were recovered, unharmed. Authorities said one child was found in a home and the other was in a car with two of the suspects.

The reported foster child was the daughter of Vinson, who said during her Zoom arraignment Friday the victims “deserved to die.”

She also berated Magistrate Odatella Odatella, using the “f-word” upwards of 20 times and a slew of other cuss words.

Washtenaw County Prosecutor Amy Reiser asked for no bond because she said Vinson was a threat to the community.

Reiser said the suspects allegedly drove to the home with loaded weapons, entered the home without permission and shot Smith and the Bernhards in front of the children.

"It's one of the most horrific crimes that I've seen in my career," Reiser said.

She said Jeffrey Bernhard survived and made it to the home next door to call 911.

Reiser said Vinson spit a police officer at and tried to get their gun when she was arrested.

Vinson, Callahan and Finley have all been charged with two counts of open murder and two counts of kidnapping — child enticement, along with one count each of attempted murder, home invasion, conspiracy to commit murder, conspiracy to commit kidnapping, conspiracy to commit home invasion, carrying a dangerous weapon, stolen property — concealing a stolen car, and felony firearm.

Vinson has also been charged with four counts of assaulting/resisting/obstructing a police officer and one count each of carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and possession of ammunition by a prohibited person

Finley faces an additional count of possession of a firearm by an ineligible person.
