WHITE LAKE (WWJ) -- Three Oakland County families are struggling to recover after losing everything in a fire that destroyed their homes in White Lake Township.

According to investigators, the fire started Sunday night in a garage and spread to three mobile homes, in the Meadow Lake mobile home park.

White Lake Township Fire Chief David Feichtner said everyone was able to make it out of their homes.

"No injuries at all," he told WWJ Newsradio 950. "Again, neighbors helping neighbors. One neighbor knocked on one of the other neighbor's doors, letting them know their house was on fire; they went to another house to let them know theirs was on fire. So, it was amazing to see everyone helping everyone else out."

Feichtner said the cause of the fire is still under investigation, but he's confident it started in a garage. He said the close proximity of the homes is what causes it to spread so quickly.

All three families are now asking for donations as they only have the clothes they were wearing at the time of the fire.

Separate GoFundMe accounts have been set up for the three families, as follows:

> Donate to help the Ostrander family

> Donate to help the O'Donohue family

> Donate to help the Daugherty family

The Ostrander family page reads: "Dear Friends, Family, and Coworkers of Huron Valley Schools,

"On the night of September 14th, tragedy struck the Ostrander family. Nicole (Huron Valley bus driver), Patrick (custodian at Lakeland), and their children, including Danielle, a senior at Lakeland High— lost everything in a devastating house fire. Thankfully, they are safe — but they now face the overwhelming challenge of starting over from nothing. To make matters harder, they did not have insurance."

Bad Benny's Pour House in Highland is also collecting clothes, shoes, pet supplies, toiletries and other donations for the families. Get details here.
