ANN ARBOR (WWJ) - Three people are expected to survive because they were buckled up when their vehicle crashed at speeds of 100 mph in Ann Arbor last weekend, police said.

The Ann Arbor Police Department said the 19-year-old female driver and a 19-year-old female passenger sustained minor injuries in the March 16th crash while a 20-year-old male passenger was rushed to UM Hospital in critical condition.

While the 20-year-old man remains hospitalized, police said he is expected to recover.

The department attributed the crash to alcohol and excessive speeds, stating the driver was traveling at 100 mph when she lost control around 4 a.m. in the area of Plymouth Road and Broadway.

Video of the incident shows the vehicle hitting a curb before flipping around, catching air and rolling several times through a gas station before coming to rest in the parking lot of a local business.

Ann Arbor police were assisted at the scene by the Ann Arbor Fire Department.

All three occupants had their seatbelts fastened.

"Seatbelts save lives and that was a very big reason all three occupants were able to survive this violent crash," police said of the incident.

An investigation remains ongoing. No other details were released.
