DETROIT (WWJ) -- A 3-year-old girl reported missing and endangered by Michigan State Police over the weekend has been safely recovered.
Za’Niyah Alexandria Jones was pictured smiling with snacks after she was found by MSP Metro South detectives.
Michigan State Police on Sunday asked the public to keep an eye out for Za’Niyah Alexandria Jones, who was believed to be with her biological father after he failed to surrender her to Child Protective Services (CPS).
Police said the 54-year-old Wardell Tyrece Jones ignored a court order instructing him to turn the child over to CPS.
"While Za'Niyah lived in Detroit, we are not sure where her father may have gone," said MSP First Lieutenant Mike Shaw when the endangered missing child report was first issued. "As people are out and about... please keep an eye out for them and call police if you see them.
Monday afternoon, MSP issued an update stating that Za’Niyah "is safe and sound," and sharing photos of the smiling child.
Police said Za’Niyah would be turned over to CPS per the court order, adding: "Thank you to everyone who shared the advisory! Great job detectives and troopers!"
MSP said not say where Za’Niyah was found or whether the father expected to face any charges.
