DETROIT (WWJ) == Whipping winds are continuing to cause power outages at homes and businesses across Metro Detroit, Wednesday afternoon.

At last check before 2 p.m., DTE Energy had reported over 30,000 customers without power.

This comes as a Wind Advisory issued by the National Weather Service, covering the lower two-thirds of Michigan, warns of wind gusts of up to 60 miles per hour.

NWS warned that these wind gusts would be capable of damaging unsecured objects, and that downed tree limbs and some power outages were expected.

DTE said it had more than 170 crews in the field working on restoration. Meanwhile, Consumers Energy was more than 15,000 customers without power across the rest of the state.

Meanwhile, there have been reports of traffic lights out, and damaged power lines and poles causing traffic delays. Drive with caution.

WWJ Producer Terri Lee said she had a pretty wild ride when she left the station, early in the afternoon.

"That high wind advisory shouldn't be taken lightly," Lee said, calling the Newsroom from her car. "I tell you, I was just driving on eastbound I-96, heading toward the Evergreen exit. And I'm just driving casually like I normally do, but my car was getting tossed around! I could not believe it; I had to really grip my steering wheel."

While the Wind Advisory is set to expire at 4 p.m. Wednesday, AccuWeather is calling for more wild weather on the way.

On Thursday, forecasters say there's a chance for rain and thunderstorms, before temperatures drop. Later in the day Metro Detroit could see a little bit of snow, and some sleet that will make roads slick.
