4 men, 1 woman arrested in shooting at Detroit motel

(WWJ) Five people have been arrested in connection with a shooting at a west side Detroit motel.

The incident happened at around 1 a.m. Tuesday, at the Deluxe Inn Motel in the 24500 block of Grand River Ave.

Police said two male suspects — age 22 and 24 — remained hospitalized in temporary serious condition, Tuesday afternoon.

Three more suspects, a 21 year-old man, a 28 year-old man, and a 26-year-old woman were arrested without incident and transported to the Detroit Detention Center.

The victim, a 27-year-old man, is hospitalized in critical condition.

WWJ's Charlie Langton reported the shooting stemmed from an initial argument between a woman and her boyfriend at the motel.

The woman then called her two brothers for backup, and they arrived to gunfire.

Both brother and the boyfriend ended up shot, Langton said. It was also reported that the boyfriend was intentionally hit by a pickup truck.

As the wounded brothers tried to drive to the hospital, they crashed into a Southfield Police car along the way.

Detroit, Southfield and Oak Park police are all involved in the ongoing investigation.

No names have been released with charges pending.
