LIVONIA (WWJ) -- A Livonia dog that was shot by a delivery driver and had been missing for a week has been found alive.

The dog's owner, Adam Forma, said his female Australian Shepard "Daisy" is recovering after being checked out by a vet. She has a wound on the top of her head that he told WWJ's Amanda Forrester was caused by a bullet grazing her head and she's in need of a bath and grooming.

Forma had been looking for Daisy since a Walmart delivery driver shot her while he was making a delivery to the home, near Eight Mile and Farmington Roads, on Easter Sunday.

"I get there and they say the delivery driver made a delivery to your house and the dog barged through the door," Forma told WWJ's Ryan Wrecker. "But I don't know how they could barge through my front door when both doors were shut."

The driver said he felt threatened, scared , and acted in self-defense as the dog was running at him.

Forma believes someone had to have tried to open the door and was "greeted" by the dogs, as there was no way the dogs could have gotten out otherwise.

His wife got the call around 3 Monday afternoon that Daisy had been spotted in someone's backyard. Forma said he picked up his other dog, went to the location and waited for confirmation from the drone operator. She was photographed but then disappeared again.

Forma's other dog sniffed Daisy out in a wooded area a street away from where she was originally photographed by the drone.

It's still unclear if any charges could be filed in this case.

A Walmart representative said they hire independent contractors to make deliveries.

The retailer has been cooperating with the police investigation, which is ongoing.

Forma said he hopes Walmart and its partners will reexamine policies after this incident.
