Firefighters and paramedics were dispatched to a Monroe County daycare center on the report of a child trapped in the merry-go-round, reported the Monroe News.

Upon arrival, the rescue crews discovered that the young girl had her arm stuck in the center portion of the metal equipment.

Monroe Township Fire Inspector Calvin Schmitt told the Monroe News via email that her arm was inserted elbow-first, which then became trapped. He added that the daycare staff used dish soap to lubricate the area in an attempt to dislodge the child's arm but when it began to cause her pain the staff called 911.

After rescue crews also failed to dislodge the child's arm without causing her discomfort, the firefighters used a DeWalt battery-operated grinder to cut the metal just enough to pry it so the child could be freed.

Once the child was removed from the play equipment she was evaluated by paramedics before being sent to her parents.

Schmitt told the Monroe News that it was unknown if the family took the girl to the hospital or sought medical treatment on their own.
