Now an investigation is underway into what's believed to be an officer-involved shooting in connection with the incident, in the area of Grandville and Trojan on Wednesday.
Around 2:30 p.m., the Detroit Police Department said officers were dispatched to O'Hair Park, where they found two Jeep Cherokees fitting the description of the vehicles that were allegedly involved in the shooting
When officers attempted to stop one of the Jeeps, police said a chase ensued.
At 7 Mile Rd. and Bentler, police said a DPD officers responding fired one round into the vehicle as it was headed toward his scout car, and just after someone inside the Jeep raised "an AR-style long gun outside" the window.
The Jeep sped around the police vehicle, police said, but the chase ended a short time later, when the suspects got a flat tire a few blocks away.
Police said one of the suspects, who is a juvenile, had a bullet wound to the leg, and was taken to Sinai Grace Hospital where he was treated and released.
No other injuries were reported.
The Detroit Police Homicide Task Force and Michigan State Police are still investigating to determine whether the suspect was wounded during the gunfire at the park, or if he was shot by the police officer.

During the arrest, police said officers seized four firearms, including an AR-style long gun and an AR-style pistol.
Police noted that one of the Jeep Cherokee's involved was found to be stolen.
