WIXOM (WWJ) A Novi woman died when she was run over by 94-year-old driver after a three-car-crash in Wixom, the sheriff's office said.

The Oakland County Sheriff's Office said the crash happened on Friday (10/4) around 10:14 a.m., on South Wixom Road near Grand River. According to their press release; a 59-year-old Novi woman was stopped in traffic at Sam's Way—inside her 2024 Honda CR-V.

A 60-year-old Wolverine Lake resident was stopped in front of her, inside a 2022 Ford F350. A 94-year-old Milford resident was driving southbound on Wixom Road, approaching the stopped vehicles in a 2010 Nissan Versa. The driver of the Nissan Versa did not stop and struck the Novi woman's SUV, the sheriff's office said.

After the crash; the Novi woman got out of her SUV and stood near her driver's side door, investigators said.

"For reasons still under investigation, but not believed to be intentional, the Nissan Versa then accelerated forward," the sheriff's office said in the press release. "The Nissan Versa struck the Honda CR-V again and ran over the driver."

The "force of the second crash pushed" the Novi woman's Honda into the Ford pickup truck in front of it, the sheriff's office said.

The Novi woman became trapped under the Nissan, which stopped "a short distance" from the initial crash site, according to investigators.

She was rushed to Ascension Providence Park-Novi Hospital where she died from her injuries.

The other two drivers were not hurt. They are "cooperating fully" with the investigation, the sheriff's office said.

Neither alcohol nor drugs are believed to be factors.

The victim's name has not been released.

The Oakland County Sheriff's Office is assisting Wixom Police with the investigation.
