DETROIT (WWJ) -- Detroit Police have six people in custody connected to a deadly shooting and crash on the city's west side.
Police were called a little after 4 a.m. Wednesday, on a report of shots fired in the area of 8 Mile Rd. and the Lodge/Greenfield.
On the scene, officers found a vehicle that had crashed into a light pole, knocking it down, blocking the street on Motor Drive. That vehicle also hit a fence.
Airbags were deployed, and a 30-year-old man in that vehicle later taken to the hospital but died.
WWJ's Charlie Langton reports the focus is now on about a block away, on Prevost Street, where evidence markers were were put on the front of the lawn of a home.
"There's glass on the street likely where the shots occurred," Langton reported.
A total of six people were taken away in handcuffs; although it's unclear how many of them may face charges in connection with this incident.
At this time, no information has been released by police about what led up to the shooting, or about he man who died.
The investigation is ongong.
