While Metro Detroit missed out on a heavy storm that hit parts of the U.S. this weekend, the area was hit by some light snow Saturday night and Sunday morning before things warmed up and it turned to rain.
It was all a precursor to what could be the region’s first significant snowstorm of the season on Tuesday.
The National Weather Service says Metro Detroit could be hit with 1-3 inches of snow Tuesday morning before transitioning to rain. The system could also bring 30-40 mph winds, according to the NWS.
Forecasters are predicting treacherous road conditions as low visibility and slick roads could make for long commutes.
As Metro Detroit gears up for this storm, MDOT snow plows will be ready to roll on area freeways. As became tradition two years ago, the state’s snow plows all have special names.
