DETROIT (WWJ) – Two adults and a teenager have been all charged with first-degree murder for the drive-by shooting death of a man on Detroit's east side.
Alexis Childs, Elisha Hill and a 15-year-old boy are accused of opening fire from a car outside a home on Chandler Park Drive near Cadieux in the early morning hours of Saturday, July 22 and fled the scene..
Three men were hit by the gunfire, including 26-year-old Thomas Davis, who was lying on the ground when Detroit police officers showed up around 2 a.m. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Another 26-year-old man and an 18-year-old were both injured and privately taken to the hospital. The extent of their injuries was not disclosed..
Childs, 25, was arrested two days after the shooting, while Hill, 26, and the 15-year-old were arrested on July 26.
Authorities have not released many details about the motive behind the shooting, but Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy mentioned it stemmed from some type of dispute.
"There is no amount of imagination that can account for the facts of this case that included a triple shooting. Once again, the answer to an alleged dispute results in a flurry of bullets from multiple people and the result is deadly," Worthy said, per a press release.
The prosecutor's office said more facts and evidence will be released in court.
Childs and Hill were arraigned last weekend in Detroit's 36th District Court. Each are charged with one count of first-degree murder, two counts of attempted murder and three counts of felony firearm.
They're due back in court on Aug. 7.
The teen, meanwhile, is not being charged as an adult, but has been adult designated, meaning upon conviction the judge will have the option of sentencing him as an adult or juvenile, or a blended sentence. Under a blended sentence, he could be sentenced as an adult if he is not rehabilitated.
The boy, whose name has not been released, was also charged Tuesday with first-degree murder, two counts of attempted murder and three counts of felony firearm. His next court date is scheduled for Aug. 8.
