(WWJ) -- Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel has offered to complete a “full and comprehensive review” of the events leading up to the deadly shooting at Oxford High School.
Nessel said in a tweet Sunday morning her office has contacted the attorney for the school district and offered their services for the investigation.
The AG said her office is “uniquely qualified” to “perform an investigation of this magnitude and are prepared to perform an extensive investigation and inquiry to answer the many questions the community has regarding this tragedy.”
Her tweets came in response to a Detroit Free Press story about Oxford Superintendent Tim Throne’s decision to hire a third-party investigator of the incident that rocked the Oakland County school on Nov. 30.
It was not clear whether the school district will accept Nessel's offer.
The school district has come under fire for allowing 15-year-old suspect Ethan Crumbley to return to class after a meeting with administrators the morning of the shooting. Authorities have said a teacher found a note on the suspect’s desk that morning depicting a handgun and people being shot and bleeding. Words on the page included: "The thoughts won't stop, help me" ... "Blood everywhere ... "My life is useless" ... "The world is dead."
A teacher also found the teen searching for ammunition on his phone a little more than a week before the shooting. and reported the incident to school officials, who contacted the boy's mother by voicemail and email. Jennifer Crumbley did not reply, but the same day sent a text to her son stating: "LOL. I'm not mad at you. You have to learn not to get caught."
Crumbley’s parents were charged with four counts each of involuntary homicide after they were arrested in Detroit early Saturday morning following a manhunt.

The teen and his parents are all being held at the Oakland County Jail separately and have no contact with one another, officials said.
Nessel has been in contact with Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald, who told the AG “a comprehensive investigation of the school” is needed, according to a story from the Free Press.
Nessel’s office is best suited to do that review because it houses civil and criminal attorneys and investigators, the AG said, according to the Free Press story.
