WLISON TWP. (WWJ) -- A 36-year-old woman is facing a felony assault charge after police say she allegedly stabbed a man multiple times at a Northern Michigan home last weekend.
According to Michigan State Police, troopers with the Alpena Post responded just after 6 p.m. Sunday at a residence on King Settlement Road in Wilson Township, which is south of Boyne City in Charlevoix County.
Troopers spoke with the victim, a man with "visible lacerations to his arms, hands, face, neck and knees," according to MSP.
The man said Jaimie Lee Morey of Alpena "went berserk” and began throwing household items at the walls in the home before grabbing a knife from the kitchen.
Armed with the knife, the man said Morey attacked him, and a struggle ensued.
The victim was cut several times before breaking free and calling 911, police said.
MSP said Morey had a laceration on her leg and said that the man had hit her, and that she was defending herself.
Morey was taken by EMS to a local hospital for treatment of her injury before being booked in the Alpena County Jail. The victim drove himself to the hospital for treatment, police said.
Police said not specify how the suspect and the victim are acquainted.
Morey was arraigned on Tuesday in 88th District Court in Alpena County on one count Assault with a Dangerous Weapon. Bond was set at $2,500 or 10% cash, and her next court appearance was scheduled for Nov. 2.
