ANN ARBOR (WWJ) -- The comments section of a post on the Ann Arbor Fire Department’s Facebook page was ablaze this weekend after they burned rival city East Lansing.

In the post -- which was shared on Sunday evening and has since gone viral -- the department wrote that there were no reports of “arson or couch fires” on campus following the Michigan Wolverines’ big win over Ohio State on Saturday.

The AAFD also added that it was an “Awesome way to set the example for our younger siblings,” in reference to the riots that occurred in East Lansing last month when MSU beat U-M during their annual rival match.

According to police, the East Lansing Fire Department responded to 57 calls for service after the game on Oct. 30, 2021, involving fires throughout the city, "in gridlock traffic," while still having to respond to a total of 142 calls for service.

The East Lansing Police Department also responded to 349 calls, many of which were to assist fire officials with crowd control while they were trying to put out fires.

Viral videos showed fans taking to the streets of East Lansing, setting couches on fire and even overturning a parked car.

Despite the lack of activity after Saturday’s game in Ann Arbor, tensions were still running high at the Big House. U-M's face-off against OSU marked a season-high for fan ejections, with 24 being removed from Michigan Stadium and one person arrested for disorderly conduct.

Following their victory this weekend, the Michigan Wolverines will now head to Indianapolis to play the Iowa Hawkeyes in the Big Ten Championship game on Saturday at 8 p.m.
