ANN ARBOR (WWJ) – An investigation is underway after a woman reported being sexually assaulted on a private golf course near Michigan Stadium Saturday night.

It happened around 10 p.m. at Ann Arbor Golf & Outing, located across the street from the Big House. The course serves as a parking lot during Michigan football games. The Wolverines had a home game Saturday night.

Ann Arbor police officials say the woman reported being assaulted by two unknown men while walking back to her car, which was parked on the course.

No other details surrounding the assault were released.

Ann Arbor police are actively investigating and asking anyone who knows something to call the department at 734-794-6920 or the AAPD Tip Line at 734-794-6939. Tips can also be submitted via email to police@a2gov.org or tips@a2gov.org.

Anonymous tips can be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.

In a crime alert released Sunday morning the University of Michigan Division of Public Safety and Security urged the public to "trust your intuition."

"If a particular situation makes you feel uncomfortable or unsafe, choose an alternative," the alert says. "If you see something, say something. Report suspicious behavior. Call 911."

Other tips the division provided include walking with a trusted friend or co-worker when possible and avoiding giving building access to people you don't know.

"Sexual assault is any sexual activity that occurs in the absence of consent. The responsibility lies with the perpetrator, not the survivor – no one deserves, asks for, or provokes sexual assault. The University of Michigan Police Department has a Special Victims Unit that strives to provide a safe, caring environment where victims are empowered to take action. If you or someone you know has experienced sexual assault, we encourage you to report it to law enforcement," the alert said.
