Ann Arbor Police searching for suspect in 3 assaults on women

ANN ARBOR (WWJ) -- Ann Arbor Police and the University of Michigan Police Department have increased night patrols while the search continues for a man suspected in a series of assaults on women.

Around 10:00 p.m. on Friday, a 37-year-old woman was assaulted inside Nickels Arcade. A man punched the woman and told her to be quiet.

Then, around 4:00 a.m. Saturday morning in the area of Catherine and North Division streets, a 22-year-old University of Michigan student was attacked by a man who punched her and grabbed her throat.

And shortly after 11:00 p.m. on Sunday, police were called to the area of West Huron and Ashley streets, where a suspect assaulted a 63-year-old woman after forcing her into a portable toilet.

Police say the woman fought back and escaped, calling out to several friends. The suspect fled as they were calling 911.

Police believe all of the assaults were committed by the same man and have released a photo of a person of interest in the case. He is described as being in his 20s, 6 feet tall, with a thin build.
