(WWJ) Police are calling on the vandals who destroyed property at a new residential housing development in Oakland County to turn themselves in.
The Auburn Hills Police Department said it is investigating a malicious destruction of property incident at 3570 Fountain Circle, located on the north side of Auburn Rd. between N. Squirrel and Adams in Auburn Hills (see map).
The crime took place sometime between 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday Feb. 23, and 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 24.
Police said the property sustained "significant damage" — including water damage from broken plumbing fixtures, broken windows, paint damage and glue damage.
The damage is of significant value in materials and labor to have repaired, according to police, including a delay in getting the housing units ready for occupancy.
Physical evidence from the scene is currently being processed," police said in a statement, adding: "It would be in the best interest of those responsible to come forward now and contact the Auburn Hills Police Department."
A cash reward of $1,000 is being offered for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for this crime.
Anyone with information is asked to call police at 248-370-9460. Callers can remain anonymous.
