WARREN (WWJ) -- Authorities in Macomb County raided a home over the weekend, making an arrest in connection with the shooting of a Macomb Township businessman.
WWJ Newsradio 950's Charlie Langton reports a 32-year-old man was taken into custody for the attempted murder of Eddie Jawad, who was ambushed and shot at outside his home on 24 Mile Road, in the area of Foss and North Ave., last Tuesday.
Langton said there was a hefty police and SWAT presence on Sunday at the Warren home, on Rivard Ave. in the 8 Mile Rd. and Van Dyke area — with the Macomb County Sheriff's Office, Warren Police, and FBI all on the scene.
At this time, no further details about the suspect have been released, as the awaits an arraignment on the charges.
Investigators said the suspect was lying in wait for Jawad, hiding between vehicles in the driveway of Jawad's home, on Oct. 14. When Jawad came out to leave for work, the suspect began shooting.
Jawad shot back, the shooter fled, and Jawad was treated at a hospital for minor injuries.
The suspect was on the run for several days, before he was tracked by investigators to that Warren home.
It's still not known why anyone would target Jawad, who owns a number of gas stations in the Metro Detroit area.
Anyone with more information about this case is asked to call the MCSO Detective Bureau at 586-307-9358.
The suspect is expected to appear in court as early as Monday afternoon. Stay with WWJ for the latest on this developing story.
