(WWJ) A barricaded gunman has surrendered himself to police at a home in Waterford Township.

WWJ’s Charlie Langton reports a woman was seen running from the home on Lakeview in the area of M-59 and Telegraph earlier Friday morning. Shots were reportedly fired at one point, but no one was injured.

The standoff started just after 6 a.m. The Oakland County Sheriff SWAT Team negotiated with him for about five hours.

Neighbor Jeremy knows the accused gunman: “I grew up with him since we were like five or six years old. I’m ten years older than he is. He’s a good kid. He just got out of prison a couple of years ago….he’s been doing great though…”

Momentum Academy, an elementary school nearby, had to go on a low-level lockdown. No one could enter or exit the building, but classes continued as normal.

Police have not revealed what lead to the standoff. The suspect is in custody.
