WARREN (WWJ) -- A woman has been taken into custody after an hours-long standoff with Warren Police that she streamed live on social media.

It was very tense scene at a home on Westminister near Peters Ave., in a neighborhood near 8 Mile Rd. and Van Dyke Ave.

Sometime at around 5 a.m., reports said they got a call from a woman who said a friend had stated during a FaceTime call that they had killed someone. The caller reported she then saw a man lying on the floor, covered in blood.

Patrol officers arrived on the scene, looked through a front window, and saw an adult man dead inside the home.

Police said they could see a woman moving around inside the house, but she refused to come to the door.

During a conversation with police dispatch by home, police said the suspect "made several statements indicating involvement in the homicide and issued threats toward responding officers, including statements expressing a desire for 'suicide by cop'.”

The woman then took to social media, streaming the developments live as police and a Special Response Team (SRT) team surrounded the house.

On the video stream, a large amount of blood could be seen — on the woman's hands, the floor and the windowsill — and she spoke by phone with a negotiator who urged her to give herself up. Reacting to all the police activity outside, she asked, "All this for little old me?"

Seen in the live video, the woman told the negotiator she "killed the bitch" who killed her husband.

Police said the suspect made several more incriminating statements regarding the homicide and continued to express suicidal ideation. The SRT utilized multiple tactics, including the deployment of chemical agents, in an effort to safely resolve the situation, police said.

Continuing a lengthy conversation with the negotiator, the woman worries her phone is going to die. She said police cut power to the home, and she needs them to turn it back on so she can keep streaming what's happening on Facebook.

The negotiator asks, "You want people to see what's happening?"

The woman says yes; that she plans to come out onto her porch, and wants people to watch as police shooting and kill her.

The negotiator replies, "Nicky, we don't want to have that happen."

At around 11:15 a.m., police said the negotiator was able to convince the woman to come outside, and she was arrested without incident.

She had minor cuts to her hand, and was taken Warren Fire Department personnel to a local hospital for treatment. Her name is being withheld, pending charges.

As for what led to the killing in the home, and how the victim died, there is no information at this time.

A knife was seen in the video.

No information about the victim has been released.

As the investigation continues, anyone with more information about this case is asked to call Warren Police at 586-574-4810.
