CLINTON TOWNSHIP (WWJ) -- A chilling discovery was made at a Clinton Township cemetery over the weekend.
The Macomb County Sheriff's Dive Team recovered a body from a retention pond at the Hebrew Memorial Cemetery on Sunday.
Police responded after a witness called around 9 a.m. to report that a body had been seen floating in the water.
Officials determined the body had likely been there for several days.
While the Macomb County Police are still awaiting autopsy results from the Medical Examiner's Office, they believe there were no signs of foul play, and that the incident may have been suicide or accidental drowning.
"The body was bloated and decomposed but there was no sign of anything suspicious," Capt. Richard Maierle told the Macomb Daily. "We're going to have to wait to see what the ME finds out during the autopsy and then we'll go from there."
