DETROIT (WWJ) -- An investigation is underway on Detroit's east side after firefighters found a burned body inside a car.
According to officials with the Detroit Fire Department, firefighters responded to a report of a fire in a vacant lot in the 11100 block of Lappin, at 7 Mile Rd. and Outer Drive, just before 4:30 a.m. on Wednesday.
At the scene, officials said firefighters found an RV, a car, and "other objects" on fire.
After putting the fires out, a body was found burned in a car in the lot.
Detroit Fire officials did not provide any further information, including about the victim's identity, but said an investigation by the Detroit Police Department is underway.
This gruesome discovery comes ten days after the bodies of two women and a child were found in a burning car on the city's west side. While no murder charge has been filed in that case, a Detroit man called a "person of interest" has been jailed on multiple criminal counts, including resisting and obstructing police.
