ANN ARBOR (WWJ) - Ann Arbor is asking some residents to boil their water as a precautionary measure following two water main breaks.

The two water main breaks took place around Plymouth Road between Green Road and Huron Parkway Monday morning, according to a press release.

A boil water advisory was issued for the area north of Plymouth Road from Traver Road to US-23 until further notice. A map of the area can be found here.

The city said there is no evidence of contamination of the water system at this time.

Water being used to brush teeth, make ice, wash raw foods, prepare drinks and water for pets should be boiled. Water being used for bathing, laundry and lawn irrigation doesn’t need to be boiled.

Officials said they expect the advisory to be lifted within 48 hours.

The water should be boiled for at least one minute then left in a covered container to cool. Bottled water can be used as an alternative.
