HURON TOWNSHIP (WWJ) - Heavyweight boxer Jared Anderson was charged for allegedly fleeing from police, according to an ESPN article.

Anderson allegedly led police on a chase that reached speeds of up to 130 miles per hour on southbound I-275 and Huron River in Huron Township, according to the article.

The chase began when police noticed Anderson's orange Dodge Challenger sped up to 91 miles per hour in a 70 mile per hour zone at around 1:36 p.m. on Feb. 29. Anderson allegedly sped up and drove around other vehicles when the officers attempted to pull him over.

The chase was ended by police when it was determined that it was a "public safety hazard."

A second chase began when Anderson allegedly exited and reentered the expressway, though this one was also called off due to the danger it posed to the public.

After the end of the chase, there were 911 calls made reporting a orange Challenger driving recklessly and a third pursuit began.

"This one ended after 0.32 miles and lasted less than one minute," the ESPN article said. "Finally, an assisting officer saw the vehicle cut across all three lanes and crash into the median."

Anderson was arraigned on Saturday morning. He was charged with third-degree felony fleeing from a police officer, according to the ESPN article.

Anderson was released after posting $10,000 bail and ordered not to drive unless going to and from a court hearing, the article said.

His next court date is set for March 13 in Romulus for a probable cause hearing. The preliminary exam will be on March 20.
