DETROIT (WWJ) - You may want to break out the ice scraper this morning after snow showers, clouds and gusty winds greet Metro Detroiters prepping for their morning commute — but a warm up is coming.

WWJ's AccuWeather Meteorologist Dean DeVore said what is (hopefully) the last bit of winter weather will continue to blow through the Metro Detroit area in the afternoon and evening hours on Tuesday with blistery gusts of 25 to 30 mph and snow flurries.

"There are slippery snow showers out and about here as we go through the morning that should ease off into the afternoon," DeVore said. "Temperatures this morning in the low to mid-30s and we will get up to a high this afternoon in the upper 40s."

According to DeVore, the RealFeel temperatures, which take into account air temperature, wind speed, solar intensity, humidity, precipitation intensity/type, elevation and atmospheric pressure, will barely make it out of the 20s and creep into the 30s by the afternoon hours.

Frost and freeze is expected in the overnight hours heading into Wednesday as temperatures are expected to drop to 33° with some outlying suburbs looking at lows in the 20s.

But hang in there, DeVore urged — a bout of summer warmth is returning along with April's famed rain showers.

"We're back up to 55° tomorrow with sun and clouds and then some showers pop in in the afternoon and a couple of showers, heavy thunderstorm [Wednesday] night," DeVore forecasted. "Thursday, much warmer up to near 80°."

Thursday night will see a thundershower or two that will cause a little cool down for Friday with a high of 66°.

DeVore said rain will move into the Metro Detroit area for the weekend, with a chilly showers in store for Saturday and highs in the low 50s and possibly staying only in the 40°s for Sunday.

The large swing in temperatures appear to stabilize going into next week, weather experts forecasted, with highs expected to stay in the 60s for most of the week and lows in the 40s.
