OAK PARK (WWJ) -- A car crashed into the corner of Hutch's Jewelry, a Metro Detroit jeweler known for selling high-priced pieces to Detroit rappers.
According to Oak Park Police, a car struck Hutch's Jewelry on Greenfield, just north of 9 Mile Rd, early Monday morning.
A short video is circulating on Twitter, showing a black car smashed into the corner of the building. The airbags are deployed, but little else can be seen.
The cause of the crash and the extent of the damage to the building is currently unknown. It is also unclear how many people were in the car and if anyone was injured.
This is not the first time the popular jewelry store has been in the news this year.
At the beginning of June, owner Dan "Hutch" Hutchinson was shot and killed in what police called a "targeted hit" while sitting in his SUV outside Pay Benny Pawn Shop in Oak Park.
Three suspects are currently in custody. The men face murder and conspiracy charges along with a felony firearm charge. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for October 14, 2022.
