ROYAL OAK TWP. (WWJ) – An investigation is underway after a domestic dispute turned to gunfire in Royal Oak Township early Sunday morning.
It all unfolded around 2:30 a.m. according to Michigan State Police, who were called to the area of Colverdale and Woodside Avenues – near 8 Mile and Wyoming – on reports of shots fired.
When troopers showed up they found two cars near Cloverdale and Ithaca that had been hit by gunfire.
While no injuries were reported, troopers found several casings in the area and the vehicles’ owners were present.
Both cars were towed to the Metro North Post to be processed.
A witness came forward and identified a possible suspect and further investigation revealed that this is “part of a domestic argument,” according to MSP officials.
Authorities have not released any details about the alleged suspect.
The investigation is still ongoing and police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the shooting to call MSP at 855-MICH-TIP or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
“We continue to see arguments escalate to gun violence. We were very lucky no one was hurt,” MSP First Lt. Mike Shaw said in a tweet.
