SHELBY TWP. (WWJ) -- A Pontiac man is jailed on multiple charges after police say he violently attacked a man during a home invasion in Shelby Township.
On Dec. 11, Shelby Township Police officers were called a home at 21 Mile Rd. and Van Dyke Ave. for a reported home invasion.
The homeowner told officers he heard a window breaking. When he went to look outside, he was pushed back into his home and severely beaten
Police said several items were stolen from the home.
Through multiple interviews and search warrants, police said detectives were able to develop a suspect.
Jesus Garcia, Jr., 36, was arrested several days later in an Auburn Hills parking lot.
Police said FLOCK cameras played a key role in helping to locate him.
“A home invasion is one of the most serious crimes we deal with, and we will respond with zero tolerance," said Shelby Township Police Chief Robert Shelide, in a statement.
"Our officers and detectives moved fast, identified the suspect, and made an arrest. Anyone who targets our residents in their own homes will be found, arrested, and held accountable. We are a law-and-order community. This department will not back down, and we will not allow violent criminals to think they can operate in our township.”
Garcia was arraigned on 41-A District Court on Dec. 17 on charges of Home Invasion 1st Degree, Unlawful Imprisonment, Robbery – Unarmed, Larceny over $1,000, Larceny in a Building, and Habitual Offender – Fourth Offense.
