(WWJ) Charles Pugh is set to be paroled just before Christmas.
According to Deadline Detroit, the former Fox 2 news anchor and Detroit City Council President will be released from prison on December 22, 2021.
Pugh was sentenced to 5½ to 15 years in prison in 2016 for having sex with a minor.
Under release conditions approved by the Michigan Parole Board, Pugh will be on parole for two years, must register as a lifetime sex offender, and is to have zero contact with any minors without permission. He'll also wear a tether for at least six months.
The sentence stems from a 2016 plea deal in which Pugh admitted having illegal sex with a boy under the age of 16, whom he met when the victim visited the Fox 2 studios with a theater group.
At the time of his sentencing, Push downplayed his wrongdoing, saying he "meant him no harm in any way," and that he believed the victim knew that. Push added that he was young, and ”didn’t really fully understand the gravity of the position" he was in at the time.
The victim's mother, in contrast, called Pugh a “monster” and “fiend,” saying that he did great damage to her family and to others.
