FARMINGTON HILLS (WWJ) -- A child has died after a crash, early Saturday morning, at 8 Mile and Inkster roads in Farmington Hills.

While Farmington Hills Police did not immediately comment on the crash, a source has confirmed to WWJ Newsradio 950 that the child — who was reportedly only 3 years old — was killed.

According to WDIV-TV, a 29-year-old Inkster woman was driving northbound in a southbound lane on Inkster, when her vehicle crashed into another vehicle driven by a 33-year-old Detroit man. Six children were apparently in the woman's car, and the 3-year-old child was not properly restrained in a car seat.

At least one adult was taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries. although it's not clear how seriously the person was hurt.

Inkster Road was closed in both directions at 8 Mile Rd. and westbound 8 Mile was also closed with investigators on the scene.

The case will be reviewed by the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office to determine charges.
