(WWJ) -- If you haven't bought your Christmas Fir yet, consider doing it very soon or you might be left with a Charlie Brown tree.
This past weekend and the upcoming weekend are the most popular times to buy Christmas trees in the state of Michigan.
Amy Start, the executive director of the Michigan Christmas Tree Association, said 75% of Christmas trees will be sold by the end of this upcoming Sunday, Dec. 5.
The State of Michigan is ranked third in the country for Christmas tree production with about 2 million trees harvested each season.
Michigan Christmas Tree Association Executive Director Amy Start said many Christmas tree farms are being impacted by inflation, but "continue pricing their trees reasonably."
"They don't wanna raise prices to the point where their customers are offended," said Smart. "With that said, the cost of gas and the cost to do business is up -- they have to offset that a little bit."
Start said the price of a Christmas tree is based on it's height and grade, which is determined by how full it looks.
On average, Christmas trees cost $10 per foot.
Along with inflation, there is a already a shortage facing tree farms.

"There is a reduction of the amount of pre-cut trees that are gonna be available from the wholesalers," said Start.
Smart said some of the choose-and-cut farms offset their inventory with pre-cut trees, but since they weren't able to get as many as they used to in the past they may be closing early this season.
