DETROIT (WWJ) - The orange barrels will be out on an expressway in Detroit this weekend.
Road crews will be removing the Beaubien Street overpass and the Seminole Street pedestrian bridge on I-94.
The closure will begin at 9 p.m. on Friday, October 27 and end at 5 a.m. on Monday, October 30.
There will be closures in both directions of I-94 between the Lodge Freeway (M-10) and Gratiot Avenue (M-3).
The closures are necessary to keep the crews safe while working, MDOT said.
Traffic on eastbound I-94 will be detoured from southbound M-10 to northbound I-75, then to northbound M-3 and back onto eastbound I-94.
Westbound traffic will be detoured onto southbound M-3 to southbound I-75, then to westbound I-96 and back onto westbound I-94.
The entrance ramps to westbound I-94 from Cadieux Road to John R. Road as well as the eastbound entrance ramps from 30th Street to Van Dyke Avenue (M-53) will close before the complete road closure.
MDOT said both structures will be replaced. The Seminole Street pedestrian bridge will become a multimodal structure and will be one block west of Iroquois Street.
