SOUTHFIELD (WWJ) — Utility workers are preparing ahead of predicted severe thunderstorms tonight, with the potential for downpours, hail, and even an isolated tornado.
A red flag warning was put into effect for Tuesday afternoon, with high winds and dry conditions elevating the risk of wildfire. On Wednesday afternoon, a round of strong storms is expected to track across the state, with some possible severe storms.
Officials with Consumers Energy say they have extra line workers to respond quickly to outages, and are actively preparing trucks for restoration efforts.
To go along with Workzone Awareness Week, Consumers urges drivers to be alert along construction zones, especially in the rain.
