Conviction in deadly shotgun shooting at Royal Oak Township dealership

(WWJ) An Oak Park man, convicted of murdering a woman in front of their child, faces life in prison without parole when he's sentenced next month.


The Oakland County Prosecutor says Gregory Davis was convicted Friday of premeditated murder in the shooting death of 40-year old Annie Namou of Sterling Heights.

Investigators said Namou was working at used car dealership at at 8 Mile Rd. and Wyoming in Royal Oak Township in May of 2023, when Davis showed up with a 12-gauge semi-automatic shotgun.

Davis allegedly followed the victim to the parking lot of the dealership where he used his car to block hers in, according to the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office.

When the woman got out of the car to go get help, he shot her as she ran away. He then shot her again at a close range.

The two been in a dating relationship, andhad a 10-year-old child together, but were no longer together at the time of the shooting.

Police said the child witnessed the shooting, but was not physically harmed.

Davis was convicted of First-Degree Murder, Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, 4 counts of Felony-Firearm, and Habitual Offender—Fourth Offense as well as Felony Assault and Assault with Intent to Commit Great Bodily Harm charges involving other victims.

“I thank the jury for delivering justice for Annie Namou and her loved ones,” said Prosecutor Karen McDonald, in a statement. “Children and women, like Annie, are too often endangered by intimate partners, and it is unacceptable. We will never forget her and never stop fighting for victims of intimate partner violence.”

Davis' sentencing is scheduled for May 11.
