INGHAM COUNTY (WWJ) -- A dead cow in the road leads to a rollover crash for an elderly Ingham County woman.

The cow hadn't been dead for very long. A 66-year-old Mason woman hit and killed the cattle on Okemos Road near Harper Road in Alaiedon Township this morning at 6:45. That driver avoided injury.

However, shortly after, an 81-year-old Holt woman came driving through on the southbound side of the road and hit the dead cow; causing her vehicle to rollover on its roof and trapping her inside.

First responders managed to extricate the woman from the vehicle. She's recovering in the hospital from minor injuries. The road was closed for an hour for cleanup and the ensuing investigation.
