DEARBORN (WWJ) -- Two Dearborn parents are facing child abuse charges after a pediatrician discovered suspicious injuries to the couple's one-month-old baby.
Murtadha Mohsein Almeamaar, 31, and Amy Lynn Taulbee, 30, were both arraigned on first-degree child abuse charges Monday morning.
On Thursday, the parents brought the baby to a pediatrician, who suspected the infant's injuries -- bruises to her head, neck and stomach -- were the result of physical abuse.
The pediatrician immediately reported these suspicions to Dearborn police, and the baby was taken to Children's Hospital of Michigan.
Doctors at Children's Hospital confirmed that the injuries were consistent with physical child abuse.
Police took the parents into custody, and they were arraigned Monday morning. Almeamaar received a $200,000 cash/surety bond and Taulbee was given a $100,000 cash/surety bond.
Their next court date is scheduled for October 14.
According to WWJ's legal analyst, the first-degree child abuse charges carry a potential life sentence in prison.
The child is currently in stable condition at Children's Hospital.
