TROY, Mich. (WWJ) -- A Detroit father is facing child endangerment and drunk driving charges after being pulled over with his son in his truck.
Troy police say shortly before 11 p.m. on May 8 an officer initiated a traffic stop after spotting a black 2019 Chevy Silverado driving erratically on southbound I-75, north of 14 Mile Road.
The officer spoke with the driver, a 42-year-old man from Detroit and noted a juvenile in the front passenger seat, whom the man identified as his 10-year-old son.
The officer also noted the driver's eyes were red and glossy.
The man was asked to perform several field sobriety evaluations, which he did, but the officer noted he performed poorly.
When the driver was asked to submit to a preliminary breath test, he refused and was arrested and taken to the Troy Police Lock-Up Facility. The man agreed to submit to a chemical blood test, which was drawn by medical personnel.
The man, whose identity has not been released, has been charged with child endangerment and operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, pending lab results.
