DETROIT (WWJ) – A Detroit man has been charged with stabbing his roommate after getting into an argument.
Nathaniel Alex McDuffie, 63, was arrested Wednesday, more than a month after he allegedly stabbed his roommate, 59-year-old Eric Sanders.
McDuffie and Sanders got into an argument at their home on Lilac Street – near Puritan and Livernois – around 5 p.m. on Feb. 26, according to the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office.
While authorities did not specify what sparked the argument between the roommates, when Detroit police officers showed up, they found Sanders upstairs suffering from multiple stab wounds to his abdomen.
McDuffie fled the scene, according to the prosecutor’s office.
Medics took Sanders to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Investigators eventually identified McDuffie as a suspect and arrested him this week. He was arraigned Thursday on one count of second-degree murder. He was given a $750,000 cash bond.
A bond redetermination hearing is scheduled for April 3, while a probable cause conference is scheduled for April 13.
