HAZEL PARK (WWJ) -- A Detroit man is in custody and a Hazel Park man is dead after investigators say an argument over chicken at a Labor Day cookout led to a stabbing.
According to Hazel Park Police, 60-year-old Kenneth Thomas and his girlfriend were have a barbecue at their home, on Monday, Sept. 7, when her brother, 62-year-old Cleo Lawson of Detroit, arrived.
Police said there was a despite between Lawson and Thomas over how to cook the chicken. There was a confrontation between the two men, the situation escalated, and Lawson allegedly stabbed Thomas.
Thomas died while first responders attempted to treat the injury.
Police did not say what sort of weapon was used in the stabbing.
Lawson was denied bond during his arraignment last Thursday on a charge of Second Degree Murder.
He is currently being held at the Oakland County Jail.
