Detroit man charged with murder, accused of punching Dearborn man out of road rage after fender-bender crash

DETROIT (WWJ) -- A Detroit man has been is being held on a $1 million cash bond, accused of murdering a Dearborn man during a road rage incident.

The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office charged 33-year-old Desmond Burks with one count of second degree murder, a month after he allegedly hit a man who rear-ended him on April 17. at Greenfield and West Chicago in Detroit.

While approaching the intersection at around 6:45 p.m., 67-year old Reda Saleh's vehicle "bumped the rear" of Burks’ car, prosecutors said.

It's alleged that both men got out of their cars after the crash and argued before Burks punched Saleh, who fell and hit his head.

Saleh was found unresponsive with head trauma when police arrived on the scene.

He was taken to a hospital where he died last weekend, officials said.

Burks was arraigned in 36th District Court on Thursday, and remains held in the Wayne County Jail. If he is able to post bond, he was ordered to wear a GPS tether and remain under house arrest.

Burks' next court date is a probable cause conference scheduled for May 24, to be followed by a preliminary exam on May 30.
